Why revenue per visitor

Revenue per visitor is revenue divided by unique visitors. It folds conversion rate and order value into one number, so a channel with few visitors who buy a lot ranks above one with many visitors who never pay.

Ranking channels by visitors alone usually points you at the wrong one. Email and AI assistants often send a fraction of search traffic but earn more per visit; social often sends the most and earns the least.

The reallocation estimate assumes a channel keeps its revenue per visitor as it grows. That holds for small shifts; for large ones, the extra visitors are usually less interested than the first ones, so treat it as a ceiling.
